The 2024 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid looks sharp and comes with plenty of features. It doesn’t have the sharpest driving experience in its class, but abundant space and exceptional value make it a compelling choice for a midsize sedan.

Redesigned with a sporty-looking front- and rear-end redesign. Standard dual 12.3-inch instrument cluster and infotainment displays. In addition, there’s an improved center console layout; new wheels; and upholstery options. Hyundai simplified its trim lineup.

Powered by a 2.0-liter I-4 gasoline engine paired with a 51-kW electric motor. It produces 192 hp, sent through a six-speed automatic transmission to the front wheels. Expected 0-60-mph time of about 8.0 seconds. For 2024, Hyundai adds paddle shifters and a regenerative braking mode. It gets 47 mpg combined.

Standard driver assist and active safety features should include adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, front automatic emergency braking, and automatic high beams. Enhanced semi-autonomous highway driving capability, camera-based blind-spot monitors, and front and rear parking sensors should be optional or included depending on trim.
