What is MINI TAKES THE STATES?
MINI TAKES THE STATES (MTTS) is a consumer-based loyalty event that will commence on the east coast in Atlanta, Georgia on July 9, 2016. From there, the drive moves westward, bound for Palm Springs, California. MINI owners will rally across the country, stopping only to sleep and eat while having the time of their lives along the way. It’s the sixth biennial MINI road rally that is sure to be a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
We drove a section to share in the fun.
Sioux Falls to Cedar Rapids
Grab your share of Manifest Destiny and head west! We’re burning rubber down I-90 and taking in the South Dakota landscape.
Sioux Falls:
First and foremost you must check out Falls Park on the Big Sioux River, where you can get some phenomenal pictures.
Thinking of a playground for adults? Check out Badlands Pawn. Billed as 70,000 square feet of “Gold, Guns and Rock n Roll,” this is the only concert venue, firing range, pawn store, radio station and tattoo parlor in the world!
At the Upper Terrace Park band shell, take in a free open-air concert courtesy of the Sioux Falls Municipal Band. Stretch your legs and find your Zen at the adjacent Japanese garden.
If wining and dining are more your style, take a walk down Phillips Avenue. Lined with brewpubs, restaurants, tasting rooms and shops, it is also home to the Sioux Falls Sculpture Walk. Over 50 pieces of art line the avenue and make for a wonderfully relaxing stroll
Sturgis:
The Knuckle Saloon is located in downtown Sturgis and rests on property once owned by Sturgis’s namesake, Colonel Samuel D. Sturgis. Steeped in the rich history of the Black Hills, The Knuckle Saloon is the only saloon that is also a museum filled with antiques and Sturgis memorabilia from days gone by.
