Kia is transitioning quickly, they have been in the US Market for 20 years. Distinctive features include the tiger-nose grill. Cadenza was first introduced in 2013. In 2015, Kia grew into a global powerhouse. In 2016 Kia earned the spot for #1 on the J.D. Power Initial Quality award. Kia is launching 20 all-new redesigned vehicles including the 2017 Cadenza. They have sold 28,000 Cadenzas already, with growing interest.
“Good is never good enough,” the Cadenza was designed to be bold and stand out. The concept is inspired by the ‘tailored athlete,’ with a clean-cut masculine elegance, distinguished dynamism, sophistication, and restraint.
The Cadenza offers an increased wheelbase, width, and track distinctive concave grill, new z-shape in the headlights and tail lights.
Driver thigh cushion adjustment helps make the ride more comfortable along with improved seat heating technology to more evenly heat the seat and prevent hot spots and cold spots. Window screens are available in the back seat for passenger privacy. Harmon/Kardon audio system is also offered with a 12 speaker Quantum Logic surround system and Clari-Fi music restoration that greatly improved sound quality and evenness throughout the vehicle. A clean dash with minimal adornments is uncluttered and easy to use. The seats are made with quilted Nappa leather with genuine stitching.
Kia reinvented the Cadenza platform with: solid foundation, structural improvements, new lighter materials, and structural adhesives which help to create a more rigid and safer vehicle, better aerodynamics, better sound deadening throughout, and improved window technology.
The engine is a 3.3 liter direct injection V6 with 290 hp and 253 lb/ft of torque. It is equipped with an 8-speed automatic transmission and FWD to reduce emissions.
Fuel economy for the Cadenza is 20 city/ 28 highway/ 23 combined
New Amplitude Selective Damping utilizes the shock absorbers to make the ride more smooth, especially when hitting rough sections of road. The shock absorbers will switch to separate oil reservoir to ensure you as the driver doesn’t feel that pothole you may have hit.
32-bit quick acting electronic steering makes you feel more connected to the road, while making steering more responsive in comparison to older electronic steering technologies.
The Cadenza offers more passenger room than all segment competitors at 107.8 feet squared.
The 2017 Kia Cadenza comes equipped with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a color head-up display (a Cadenza first), and wireless phone charging.
New Advanced Smart Cruise Control will bring the vehicle to a complete stop if needed.
New Smart Blindspot Detection, using lane-change mitigation technology will apply a small amount of brake pressure on one of the front wheels to tug the vehicle back into the lane.
The Cadenza comes in 3 trims:
Premium starts below $32,000, which is $1,000 less than the outgoing model.
Technology starts below $39,000
SXL starts below $44,000
18 inch and 19 inch wheels are available on all trims.
(prices are not finalized)
Where Kia’s Optima is a more youthful vehicle, the new Cadenza is mature and focused on a more executive feel with a bold and striking design.
