A 2017 Dodge Challenger GT that’s all-wheel drive? Lauren Fix, The Car Coach® and Paul Brian take to the ice and snow of Portland, Maine to test the new, all-wheel drive Challenger both on and off the road. Check out the new His Turn – Her Turn™ review!

Ben Lyon, Challenger Brand Manager

Challenger GT now is AWD. Why? Because all-wheel drive is all-season. Offering a muscle coupe in AWD is what customers are asking for per FCA.

Powered by 306hp, 3.6L V6 with 268 lb-ft of torque. This 5-passenger offers dual-exhaust with great drivability and responsiveness. Backed by a 8-speed automatic, fuel economy is 18 city/27 highway mpg.

Car goes to AWD when ever the windshield wipers are on. When put into Sport mode, AWD is also engaged. When makes a pass, car senses that and engages in AWD. Otherwise, RWD will be used, the change over is seamless. Enhanced with Vehicle Dynamic Control give drives better handling on all surfaces including snow and ice.

Electronic Stability Control system presents better on-road dynamics.

Standard UConnect 8.4 inch touchscreen display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, six Alpine speakers with 276-watt amplifier, bright pedals, universal garage door opener and mesh aluminum bezels.

19″ aluminum wheels with all-season tires, projector headlamps, rear deck spoiler, Park Sense rear park assist and ParkView rear backup camera.

All new GT interior package, unique to AWD models, NAPA leather and Alcantera suede seats – $995 includes upgrade Alpine audio with 506 watts. Performance Pages interface included.

Weight increase by under 200 for AWD system. Visually the ride height is slightly higher and has a badge denoting GT.
