2014 BMW 4-series review: When we desire an elegant vehicle, we require great driving dynamics, efficiency, function and, of course, a choice of engines and a convertible top. The new 4-Series BMW has all that and more. Let’s take a closer look.

Model — 2014 BMW 4-Series
MPG — 22 City / 33 Hwy
Engine — Choice of the 240hp. TwinPower Turbo 2.0-liter 4-cylinder or a 435i 300hp TwinPower Turbo 3.0-liter inline 6
Price — Starts at $40,500 MSRP for the 428i Coupe and $48,750 for the convertible version

The all-new BMW 4 Series Convertible represents the latest chapter of 2-door BMWs. We test-drove the 2014 BMW 435i Convertible. This rear-wheel drive vehicle was impressive and offered an upscale interior with straightforward controls, nice upgraded materials and spacious seating for the class.

The 2014 BMW 4 Series Convertible features a three-piece retractable hardtop. There is a button that moves the hardtop up to store a small piece of luggage and then retracts to protect the roof and use all the space in the trunk where the hardtop convertible is stored. The convertible opens and closes in 20 seconds and can be used year round due to the fold away hardtop. Through the trunk is a very large pass-through for snow or wake boards and even golf clubs.

Some of the more impressive details include the “neck warming feature,” integrated seatbelts, and the wind deflector. There’s also a built in roll bar for rollover protection and the LED headlights have a non-glare assist system so you don’t blind oncoming traffic. The center stack has a Harman Kardon Sound system with beautiful sound and BMW connected services and apps.

As for design, the stretch silhouette has a boat deck character which gives a nice connection between the in and outside of the car. The driver-oriented interior boasts metal trim details that are sporty and elegant in all trim levels.

The full color heads-up display projects important travel information, such as vehicle speed and check control warnings, onto the windshield directly in your field of vision. It also provides additional information including navigation directional arrows and instructions.

Competes with:
• Infiniti Q60 coupe
• Audi A5 / S5
• Mercedes C-Class
• Lexus IS250C / IS350C

The 2014 BMW 4-Series is a fun car that can be driven year-round. This performance-driving machine is blended with sufficient elegance and style to turn heads anywhere.

Remember, when shopping for a new car, test drive as many vehicles as you can in that class before making your final decision and for more information, go to our website. I’m Lauren Fix, The Car Coach.
