I’m Lauren Fix, The Car Coach. Let’s take a closer look at the 2014 Volvo S60.
Model — 2014 Volvo S60
MPG — 20 City / 30 Hwy
Engine — 2.5L Turbo or 3.0L Turbo for a more spirited drive.
Price — Starts at $32,400
We test-drove the 2014 Volvo S60 and found it dynamic and fun-to-drive with an updated design, new performance and safety features, and a luxury interior.
Inside the S60, changes include an available Adaptive Digital Dash Display, air vents with a sleek metal finish, new décor on the gearshift knob featuring a piano black background, and all-new sport seats that deliver additional support and style, just to name a few.
Volvo is known for its award-winning safety; it’s a Top Safety Pick+ by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. The 2014 model has Advanced IntelliSafe Technology, which includes features like City Safety and Pedestrian Detection. These innovative radars are behind the grille and detect pedestrians and bikers, working with City Safety to automatically brake if one suddenly steps or swerves into your lane. And the Sensus Infotainment system with integrated Bluetooth connects your audio, navigation and cell phone through a 7-inch hi-resolution color screen. These are all standard features.
Also standard are 17-inch wheels, automatic wipers and headlight washers, heated mirrors, dual-zone automatic climate control, an eight-way power driver seat (with adjustable lumbar), driver memory settings, a leather-wrapped tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, a 7-inch display screen, Bluetooth phone, 8-speaker sound system with a CD player, HD radio, satellite radio, and an iPod/USB audio interface.
Overall the handling was tight and precise like a German sedan yet had a comfortable ride. The front seats were very comfortable but the back seats were a bit tight for adults. The trunk offered plenty of stowage for most families.
Competes with:
• Cadillac ATS
• BMW 3 Series
• Audi A4
• Acura TL
• Mercedes Benz C-Class
The 2014 Volvo S60 is a well-balanced ride with comfortable seating in a stylish luxury sedan. The bigger engine was fun to drive. Overall, it is a tempting alternative to a German luxury sedan.
Remember, when shopping for a new car, test drive as many vehicles as you can in that class before making your final decision and for more information, go to our website. I’m Lauren Fix, The Car Coach.
