The 2014 Mazda 6 is all new inside and outside. In this edition of Car Coach, YNN’s Lauren Fix takes an in-depth look at the car.

Model: 2014 Mazda 6
MPG: 26 City / 38 Hwy
Engine: 2.2L or 2.5L 4-cyl. SKYACTIV-G engine with a choice of a 6-speed manual or 6-speed Sport automatic transmission.

The 2014 Mazda 6 has three trim levels: iSport, iTouring and iGrand Touring. The test vehicle was the iGrand Touring and included the available Technology Package that receives the benefit of i-ELOOP Regenerative Engine Braking System, Active Grille Shutters, a Sport Mode button, Mazda Radar Cruise Control, Forward Obstruction Warning, Lane Departure Warning System and High Beam Control Safety Features.

For Touring models, add the Technology Package and it includes extra safety features such as rain-sensing windshield wipers and Smart City Brake Support. It uses a laser sensor system to detect potential collisions, the system operates at speeds up to 20 mph. Additional features include, heated side mirrors and an auto-dimming rear view mirror with Homelink.

Our test vehicle offered dynamic handling and a comfortable ride. The interior was spacious and had comfortable seating with good visibility.

The Mazda 6’s cabin is attractive and filled with upscale materials. The controls were laid out in a very convenient pattern and easy to use. The 5.8 inch touch-screen display, had a rear view camera, HD Radio, Pandora Internet radio connectivity, voice-controlled audio controls and hands-free text messaging capability. The Mazda 6 can be equipped with features like dual-zone automatic climate control, rain-sensing windshield wipers, adaptive cruise control, an 11-speaker Bose surround-sound audio system, satellite radio, navigation, and a blind spot monitoring system.

Competes with:
•Ford Fusion
•Nissan Altima
•Toyota Camry
•Honda Accord

The 2014 Mazda 6’s all new design offers a roomy cabin, agile handling and impressive fuel economy, all at a very fair price.
