Aggressive design features include 20-inch wheels and a unique grille with low-gloss gray mesh with contrasting Ebony high-gloss bars to establish a sporty exterior look. The Explorer Sport’s interior incorporates contrasting stitching and available two-tone leather-trimmed seats that deliver a unique Sport interior design.

All Explorers offer the Terrain Management System with settings for sand, snow, rutted mud and hill descent.

Options on our test vehicle included available Blind Spot Information System with cross-traffic alert (which was quite helpful in parking lots) and the world’s first automotive production inflatable rear safety belts, which enhances the safety for rear-seat passengers of all ages.

The sport model also offers a stiffer ride, larger brakes and a six-speed automatic transmission. Also available are xenon headlights that now feature automatic high-beam control.
