The 2012 Volvo S60 is Volvo’s best selling vehicle. It was very quick and easy to drive.
One area that Volvo always shines is in its tradition of top safety. Dynamic stability and traction control are standard, while a new pedestrian-recognizing safety system is optional. Capable of detecting when a collision with a pedestrian is imminent, the system automatically triggers the car’s brakes to prevent an impact. The technology adds $2,100 and comes in a package that also includes adaptive cruise control and lane departure warning. Standard dual front, side and curtain airbags round out the list of safety features.
There is an optional moonroof, power passenger seat and Xenon headlamps, plus a climate package that includes heated front seats, heated windshield washer nozzles, headlamp washers, rain-sensing windshield wipers and an interior air quality system. The multimedia package adds a Dolby Pro Logic II audio system by Audyssey, and rear parking camera with navigation.
Competes with:
• Audi A4
• BMW 3-Series
• Mercedes-Benz C250
• Acura TSX
Likes:
• Powerful engine but still fuel efficient
• Comfortable interior
• Well balanced handling
• Great safety features
• Pedestrian warning / city safety
Dislikes:
• Small back seat
• Options can make the car pricey
• Small buttons in center stack
The Volvo S60 T5 is a good option to consider if you are looking for a premium European sedan with cutting edge safety.
Remember, when shopping for a new car, test drive as many vehicles as you can in the class you are looking in to make sure you find the car that is best for you.
