The 2012 Chevy Suburban LTZ is built for shoppers who need its brawny towing abilities, a cavernous interior and chart-topping passenger capacity.

For The Car coach test drive, we loaded the vehicle with equipment and a car trailer to test the ride and braking. It had a comfortable ride and was easy to drive but, fully loaded, was a bit slow accelerating from a stop.

Braking was great and all the quality interior options made this a great choice for families that frequently carpool or haul lots of gear. There was good visibility and the blind spot detection was helpful. As a daily driver it was a large vehicle and felt heavy at times, however the Suburban is a great value with tons of safety features.

Competes with:
• Ford Expedition
• GMC Yukon
• Nissan Armada
• Toyota Sequoia

Likes:
• Seats up to nine people
• Tons of storage
• Lots of standard features
• Comfortable ride
• Powerful V8 engine

Dislikes:
• Third-row seat should fold into the floor for easier storage
• Long braking distances when vehicle is fully loaded
• Acceleration is sluggish under full load
• Heavy-feeling vehicle

The 2012 Chevy Suburban LTZ is perfect for large families who need a traditional full-size SUV with massive cargo and towing capacities.
