My test drive in the 2011 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport SE found it was well equipped with 18 inch alloy wheels. While it wasn’t built primarily for performance it was equipped nicely with a 710 watt Rockford-Fosgate Punch Premium Sound System with 9 speakers and a 10 inch sub-woofer. The 40GB navigation system had Real-Time traffic, rearview camera and a music server. The sound system was incredible.

For the price range, the Outlander Sport had plenty of standard safety and comfort too. It may not be very fast, but the Outlander Sport looks cool, rides well and has a base price of $18,495.

Competes with:
• Kia Sportage
• Nissan Juke SV
• Chevrolet Equinox
• Hyundai Tucson
• Toyota RAV4
• Jeep Patriot
• Ford Escape
• Subaru Forester
• Honda CR-V
• Mazda CX-7

Likes:
• Unique design and styling
• Comfortable interior
• Fuse Link system
• Loved my glass roof with LED ambient lighting. Very cool.
• Great Sound system

Dislikes:
• Road noise
• Limited trunk space
• Lack of power

The Mitsubishi Outlander Sport is an attractive CUV with a few cool features and a unique look that will appeal to younger buyers; it needs more power but gets good fuel economy.

Remember, when shopping for a new car, test drive as many vehicles as you can in the class you are looking in to make sure you find the car that is best for you. I’m Lauren Fix, The Car Coach.
