With the cost of gasoline on the rise, many drivers are looking for a fun-to-drive car that gets great fuel economy. Car Coach Lauren Fix has the details on the 2011 Mazda2.

Make — 2011 Mazda2
Model — Touring
Where Manufactured — Japan
History– economical sub compact car is Mazda 2 is all-new
MPG — 27 / 33 mpg on regular fuel
Engine – 1.5L 4-cyl. Engine
100 horsepower — front wheel drive
4 speed automatic transmission
Price – $16,435 as tested

I took the Mazda2 touring for a test drive. It was well equipped with 15″ alloy wheels, stability, traction control, remote key-less entry, intermittent wipers, rear wiper and rear roof spoiler.

The inside was black with red piping. It had tilt leather steering wheel with audio controls, air conditioning with pollen air filter, AM/FM/CD and MP3 player with six speakers, side and curtain airbags, and plenty of cup holders.

Competes with:
• Chevrolet Aveo
• Ford Fiesta
• Hyundai Accent
• Toyota Yaris
• Nissan Versa

Likes:
• Well equipped with many standard features drivers want
• Sporty handling
• Great color choices
• Great pricing

Dislikes:
• Rear Drum Brakes
• Limited cargo area
• Cramped rear seats
• Outdated automatic transmission
• Few options available

The 2011 Mazda2 is a blast to drive. It’s a driver-focused, fuel sipping ride that’s entertaining despite its lack of power.

Remember, when shopping for a new car, test drive as many vehicles in the class you are looking in to make sure you find the car that is best for you.
